Lemon juice can help to cure damaged skin, helping the skin to heal faster. The juice contains 6% citric acid. Citric acid is very beneficial for acne prone skin as it helps to reduce excess oil without harming the skin. As Lemon juice contains citric acid, it helps to remove scars and lighten blemishes. The acid contain properties that naturally lightens the skin. But the process takes time, don’t expect your skin to lighten up in a blink of an eye.
Lemon as Skin Brightener and Lightener
1. Lemon Juice
Lemon will make your skin more photosensitive. Since the skin will become more sensitive to sun rays, don’t go into the sun immediately after using. Make sure to apply sunscreen before going out. Best to wait for at least 5 – 8 hours before going out.
Squeeze out fresh lemon juice and apply it on the skin. Leave it for 15 – 20 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.
2. Lemon Rind
For this recipe you might as well use orange if you don’t have a lemon. These are citrus fruits that are high in acid. They work very well as skin lightener!
Grind lemon zest, rind, or orange zest into a powered form. Mix it with milk and apply on the skin. Rinse off with warm water and immediately use a cool toner to tone down the skin.
3. Lemon, Milk and Honey
Mix 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, milk, and honey together. Cleanse the skin before applying. Leave the mixture on the skin for 15 – 20 minutes before rinsing off.
