Fruit Face Scrubs

In my previous post, I have outlined how crucial it is to exfoliate our face and showed various ways to make your own face scrubs. In this post, I will continue to talk about face scrubs – in a fruitilicious way. Yes that’s right, fruits can also act as an exfoliator, and there are many fruits that could be beneficial to your skin and face no different from products you buy from a store. Might as well be friendlier for your skin. Grab your fruits in the fridge and let’s get started!

Chemical Exfoliator

When talking about chemical evident in products, people will think that they are harmful. However, the chemicals we are going to talk about in this post are natural chemicals from fruit enzymes. Fruit acids when combine to make exfoliators will not only refine your skin, but also brightens, soothes and making your skin appear softer. The most important thing fruit acids can do wonders to your skin is that they balances out the water your skin needs. No matter what your skin type is – normal, oily, or dry, they all need water. Moisture from your skin would be retained with fruit acids. In other words, they don’t strip moisture from your skin when removing old oils and skin cells.

Fruits also contain ‘Alpha Hydroxyl Acid’ (AHA), which gives a healthy glow and improve the texture of your skin. AHA can be found in citrus fruits, tomatoes, and grapes. Other acids can also be found in fruits, for example Sorbic acids can be found in citrus fruits. Lactic acids in yoghurt, milk, tomatoes and berries, Glycolic acid in sugar, Tartaric acids in grapes, Malic acids in apples and apple cider vinegar, and Salicylic acids in willowbark and wintergreen.

Mix 1 teaspoon honey, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tablespoon olive oil and 5 tablespoon sugar together until smooth. To use, gently rub the scrub on a damp face. Rinse off with warm water.

  1. This definitely makes a great scrub. I love to keep it natural as that is when I get the best results. Exactly how much lemon did you have to use?

In the past few weeks I have been using natural skin whitening to even up my skin tone and lighten it up.

    1. Natural scrubs are the best as they don’t strip off your skin in a harsh way. You only have to use a juice of 1 whole lemon. Wow that is great to hear! Seems like I’ll have to try this one out 🙂
